• History:
Hedwig was born in the country in Germany to a peaceful family. She was an only child, but her parents wanted her to have a good education. One day, a noble came upon the family one day and noticed that Hedwig was bright as a child. The nobleman proposed to the parents to take her under their wing to educate Hedwig, the parents agreed and were ecstatic but the little girl felt perplexed.

The day that Hedwig was taken was the saddest moment in her life. She would miss them, but her new life kept her too busy to mourn perfectly. Ten years had passed by and Hedwig was not a reserved and docile young lady. He educated her and even taught her how to defend herself just in case. She was a beauty as well and had her own admirers, yet none interested her for they were boorish. That is, until the day of her sixteenth birthday party.

It was hectic, so many people came yet she didn't know most of them. To her immense surprise, her parents were allowed to come and they had a happy reunion. With them was a boy from her childhood. The boy would become the new gardener of the nobleman who took her in.

The days went by and the once posh girl became lovestruck and spent most of her time with her childhood friend. What she didn't know was that her friend was sick, so they arranged for his last days to be with her since he liked her as well. One day, he gave her a pot of hydrangeas, the same flower from her hometown.

The very next day, however, the lad was gone. No one would tell her where he was or where he went. Finally, it was the nobleman himself who told her that he went somewhere far away. Hedwig believed he meant that her friend went to another town for work perhaps, and she spent the time after waiting for him.

Years passed and the nobleman had had enough of her loitering, so he told her that she needed to do something. He knew of a place where she could seek employment and shipped her off. Hedwig brought her pot of hydrangeas, not wanting them to wilt. She wondered what kind of place her new home would be..
